19 Senior Police Officers Promoted in Major Ghana Police Service Shake-up

Accra: The Ghana Police Service has promoted nineteen senior officers to their next ranks following approval by President John Dramani Mahama, acting on the recommendation of the Police Council.

According to Ghana Web, the promotions were announced on the Service's official Facebook page on April 19, 2026, and were carried out on March 17, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, along with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB). The statement from the Ghana Police Service explained that the ceremony took place at the National Police Headquarters in Accra as part of ongoing efforts to acknowledge merit, dedication, and long service within the institution, while also aiming to strengthen leadership across key operational and administrative levels.

Among those promoted from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner of Police (COP) are D. Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Frederick Agyei, Duuti Tuaruka, Arthur Osei-Akoto, Darko Offei Lomotey, Eric Ken Winful, Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, and Desmond Owusu Boampong.

The IGP and members of POMAB congratulated the officers and urged them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their duties, emphasizing that the promotions reflect both individual achievement and the Service's commitment to excellence.
