Accra: An 18-year-old man identified as Yaw Brakoh has been taken into police custody following the gruesome death of his grandmother on Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, a post on Facebook by Crime Check TV GH on May 28, 2026, reported that Brakoh, locally known as "2 Cedi," allegedly attacked and beheaded the elderly woman at her residence in the Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning at the victim's residence, leaving residents in shock and grief, as noted in the caption of the post on Crime Check TV GH. The horrific act has plunged the local community into sudden shock and mourning.
Following the attack, outraged community members rapidly mobilized to apprehend the suspect. Tempers flared, and Brakoh was nearly lynched by an angry mob before the Wassa Akropong Police Patrol Team intervened to rescue him. The suspect, who sustained multiple injuries during the attempted lynching, was transported to a local hospital where he remains under tight police guard.
While several community members have alleged that substance abuse may have triggered the violent outburst, local authorities have declined to validate those claims, emphasizing that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the murder.
