Accra: The President of the Africa Armwrestling Federation, Charles Osei Asibey, has announced a significant financial partnership for the 15th Africa Armwrestling Championship. The collaboration with Next Level Energy Drink will provide the event with much-needed financial support.
According to Ghana Web, the sponsorship deal will see Next Level Energy Drink invest approximately $45,000 into the championship. This investment is intended to manage the event's finances and offer essential backing, potentially elevating the sport to new heights. During a press conference organized in Accra on April 29, 2026, Asibey expressed optimism about the future of armwrestling, stating: "We are going to the next level with a cash support of $45,000 from Next Level Energy Drink. As I speak, Egypt, C´te d'Ivoire, and others have arrived."
Philip Gross, CEO of Next Level Energy Drink Global, conveyed gratitude towards local authorities for their role in facilitating the partnership. Gross remarked, "Thank you for having us here to be part of this community. I love being here, and thanks to our long-standing partners in Ghana. We appreciate the GTA for welcoming us and look forward to giving back to the community."
Supporting the sentiment, Ben Anane Nsiah, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, emphasized the importance of the partnership, noting, "We are at the next level of everything. If we have a solid brand like Adonko partnering with armwrestling, it is great. Sports tourism is everywhere, and we want Ghana to be part of great experiences worldwide."
Dr. Kofi Addo Agyekum, Vice Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the championship, assured that Ghana is prepared to host the event. He stated, "I can say without hesitation that Africa has come and Accra is ready, and you will feel safe here. We want to say a big thank you to Next Level, and we pray that our relationship will be very solid. As the president said, Ghana Armwrestling is 10 years old and has gone through challenges, but I believe we have done well. You will not regret sponsoring us."
The championship is scheduled to occur from May 1-2, 2026, at the Borteyman Sports Complex, with 21 African countries competing for the title.
