Kadjebi: The Rashid Bawa Assembly Hall of the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) has been chosen as the venue for the upcoming Akan Constituency executive elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), set to take place on Saturday, July 11. A total of 1,012 delegates are expected to participate in the election to select 11 executive positions from 20 aspirants who will lead the party in the constituency for the next four years.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Bashiru Sabitiou Yeziru, the Akan Constituency Research and Elections Officer of the NPP, shared this information during an interview at Kadjebi, in the Oti Region. He revealed that three incumbent executives have retained their positions unopposed. These include Mr. Rabiu Awale as Constituency Chairman, Mr. Merigah Abdul Sataru as Constituency Secretary, and Mr. Alhassan Sam Shamoon as Nasara Coordinator.
Mr. Yeziru further detailed the contested positions, noting that the First Vice-Chairmanship will see Mr. Noah Kwame Wadja and Mr. Francis Agorson vying for the spot. Meanwhile, the Second Vice-Chairmanship will be contested by Mr. Adams Mutawakil and Ms. Fati Iddrisu. The Deputy Secretary position will have Mr. Ewormvor Richard Senyo facing the incumbent, Mr. Bedi Frank Yevuyibor. For the Organiser position, the race includes the incumbent, Mr. Joseph Nana Oboako, and Mr. Rashid Ibrahim.
The Youth Organiser role has attracted Mr. Kelebe Paapa and Mr. Adams Nafiu as contenders, while the Communications Officer position will see the incumbent, Mr. Frank Adjei Worlanyo, competing against Mr. Mustapha Ahmed. The Women's Organiser position will be a contest between Madam Nyam Abena Bigornu, the current officeholder, and Madam Annatu Yussif. The Treasurer position is the most keenly contested, with Mrs. Kwadade Cardigah Kafui, Mr. Abubakar Sedick, and Mr. Mashood Abiola Amusum in the running.
Mr. Yeziru expressed confidence that the elections would be conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and credible manner. He urged the delegates to maintain order throughout the process and appealed to aspirants and their supporters to focus their campaigns on issues, avoid personal attacks, and accept the election results graciously.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining unity after the elections to bolster the party's structures in the constituency in preparation for future political activities and elections.
