Cape Coast,- Tutors undergoing training under the educational module of the $10 billion Cape Coast Green City Project have lauded MAMDEV Ghana Limited and Steady/X for the initiative that has impacted on them.
The training they said had created an effective online education environment for both teachers and students to explore new educational trends and methodologies.
This came to light when a team from MAMDEV Ghana Limited, a Development Firm, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Joseph Kojo Mamphey as well as Steady/X visited some of the training centers to assess the progress of the programme.
The beneficiary teachers who were selected from some schools in the Cape Coast Metropolis, told the team that the process was interesting, educative and interactive adding that all institutions should take advantage of the project to match up with the digitalized World.
Mr Chanik Kwao- Agboade, Head of Department of Information, Communication Technology (ICT) at Oguaa Senior Technical School (OSTEC), said after the training session that he was optimistic the future of Ghana was bright as trainers were being prepared to fit into the computerised world.
“We are happy and positive there will be no problem operating online as we now have the requisite knowledge to move on smoothly on any technological platform to teach”.
Mr Samuel Ansah, ICT Tutor at Adisadel College, underscored the importance of the training, saying it was effective and interactive and called on all tutors to take advantage of the course to enhance teaching and learning amidst the double track educational system.
He called on stakeholders to collaborate with MAMDEV Ghana limited in building the Cape Coast Green City Project as it would help develop the Metropolis and beyond.
At Wesley Girls Senior High School (SHS), Mr Isaac Nzoley, the Assistan ICT Head, explained that the training was meant to help the teachers deliver lessons more effectively and should be embraced by all.
“If every teacher is able to get to the platform, it will help enable them make online teaching accessible, interactive and beneficial.”
He applauded the initiators of the Cape Coast Green City Project adding that it would ease some burden off the shoulders of government.
Mr Fred Anim, Coordinator and Content Manager in charge of e-learning at Steady /X in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA ), said the training had been designed to create the opportunity to bridge the gap between physical capacity building and that of technology.
He said it was also aimed at bringing all learners on board for them to be able to grab the opportunities associated with the Cape Coast Green City Project.
(CEO) of Mamdev Ghana Limited, said in conjunction with one of its strategic partners ,Steady/X and Haitech, a virtual and online educational system in Cape Coast was instituted to facilitate effective teaching and learning to help raise educational standards.
Mr Mamphey stated that it had been envisaged that many schools would have their curriculum online within the next two years in line with global trends and the training, therefore would instill the requisite knowledge in both teachers and students to teach and learn online.
Some 40, 000 laptops would be distributed to students in the Metropolis, after the training to ensure the smooth take off of the online teaching and learning, Mr Mamphey, added.
MAMDEV Ghana Limited, the lead consultants and facilitator of the Cape Coast Green City Project in partnership with several local and foreign partners and investors, had instituted the initiative as part of a larger design to transform Cape Coast and Elmina into a model, smart city.
The partners would use their capacities to ensure sustainable, diverse, integrated and strong development in Cape Coast Metropolis and beyond.
The foreign partners include Steady/X and Haitech Technologies, an information technology firm, with support from the Chiefs and people of Cape Coast and the Government of Ghana as well as the Diaspora.
