Popular Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata has shared his views about the recent power crisis that has made things difficult for citizens, especially businesses.
While talking about his experience, he stated that the erratic power supply, which has intensified recently, has affected his business and distorted operations.
He disclosed that his employees who work at his residence call him almost every 15 minutes to lodge complaints about how the power outage (dumsor) is disrupting their operations.
Speaking in an interview with 3FM, which GhanaWeb monitored, Kinaata expressed worry over the state of the country’s electricity supply and called for necessary action to resolve it.
During the interview, the host of the show, Giovanni Caleb, asked, ‘Kofi, are you experiencing the ‘dumsor’ because your body doesn’t look like it affects you?’
Kinaata smiled and responded, ‘I am experiencing it [the power outage] a lot; as I speak now, there is no light at home. Some people who work in the house call me every fifteen
(15) minutes to complain about the power outage. That is the reality. It’s not good. When you are watching television and the lights go off, it’s someway.’
In recent times, numerous complaints have been made by people, including stalwarts of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), about the unstable nature of the power supply in some areas.
Meanwhile, during the State of the Nation’s Address (SONA) on February 27, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated that his administration deserves to be applauded after having avoided ‘Dumsor’ (power outage) for seven years since he assumed office.
His remark was met with vehement criticism by some section of the public who share an opposing view.
It is yet to be seen if the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will release the load-shedding timetable as demanded by the public.
