Alpha TND Limited, a provider of comprehensive range of energy solutions in the power sector of Ghana and across West Africa, has inaugurated two new manufacturing facilities in Prampram to augment its work in the country.

The new facilities, consisting of LV/ MV Panel manufacturing and STS Meter Manufacturing, bring the company’s total Manufacturing facilities count to three.

The new Meter manufacturing facility will exclusively be engaged in the manufacturing of all types of Standard Transfer Specification (STS) compliant meters, Meter Management System (MMS) complaint meters, customized according to utility requirements.

It has a dedicated production annual capacity of 160,000 STS Energy Meters in one shift of operation and is expandable for future enhanced requirements. With the existing facility well in place, the current total installed capacity for Energy Meters will now increase to 720,000 meters per annum, covering every type of metering product required in the West African market.

The company’s first manufacturing factory, which was inaugurated in 2014 has since produced and supplied over 1.1 million Quality Energy Meters to various utilities in Ghana.

The second facility, which is most likely the first in Ghana, will produce Low & Medium Voltage Metering panels. This facility is presently designed to produce about 9,000 metering panels per annum. This will be soon expanded to produce other low voltage panels required in distribution.

During the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Vinita Bhati, representing Team Alpha TND stated that “After almost a decade of passionate engagement, we are happy to say, Alpha TND has rapidly become one of the leading companies in the Power sector of Ghana and surrounding countries.

These new facilities will promote the Made in Ghana initiative, reduce import dependency and improve the availability of goods, thus, creating several direct and indirect employment, skill development and adaption of global technologies.”

In the past decade, Alpha TND has also been engaged in the provision of Metering Solutions, Construction and Operationalization of Sub-Stations and Switching Stations, Transmission Lines, Distribution and Electrification Projects.

Additionally, the company also transacts in the trading of Fast-Moving Energy Goods (FMEG) such as LED lighting products, Ceiling fans and House wires, that have been used extensively in the real estate industry in the construction of over 300,000 houses in Ghana.

According to Ms. Vinita Bhati the company’s bullish performance over the years has resulted in many achievements, in this regard she stressed that Alpha TND has raked into Ghana’s economy significant Forex earnings in excess of US$100 million through Exports and Capital Importation.

In the process, 250 skilled persons have been directly employed, with the existing manufacturing facilities exclusively run by a well-trained Ghanaian team.

The company has a matchless profile in the execution of EPC projects including the construction of a dozen of Switching and Sub-stations in West Africa, the most current projects sited in Asankragua & Juabuso in Western and Western North regions of Ghana respectively.

She further intimated that Alpha TND’s flagship project is the prestigious “Tema-Meridian”, Sub-station located around the meridian point of the globe.

Through these and many other projects, the company has contributed immensely in connecting electricity to more than 140,000 house-holds and working further to connect 100,000 more consumers in West Africa.

The Company also has interest in renewable energy, making strategic incursions into the photovoltaic generation space, in this regard, the company has cumulatively commissioned more than 3MW of roof-top solar generation projects and is currently working on a 7MW Ground-Mounted Solar Generation project.

Inaugurating the facility as the Guest of Honour on behalf of the Minister for Energy, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (MP), the deputy minister for Energy, Hon. William Owuraku Aidoo said the government is keen on supporting companies within the power sector to adhere to its local content and local participation policy as this will go a long way to boost economic empowerment among the people of Ghana.

He admonished other guests and companies to look for opportunities within the sector to scale up its expansion for more jobs and impact across the country.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion include: Hon. Sam Nartey George – MP for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea – MP for Akim Abuakwa South and Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, Mr. Sanjay Asthana representing the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana – His Excellency Sugandh Rajaram, The Chief of Prampram – Nuumo Awuley Kwame and Dr. Eddie Akwetey Tema Region President (AGI) representing the president of the AGI, Dr. Yaw Adu Gyamfi.

Though the company had restricted invitation due to COVID protocols, the event was well attended by all Key Power Sector participants.

Representations were noted from Traditional Rulers from the Area, Ministry of Energy, ECG, NEDCo, VRA, GRIDCo, Energy Commission, PURC, GSA, GIPC, Leading Banks, AGI, Various other industry players, past officials of the Power Sector, various local authorities and the Director-General of SONABEL. To reach out to more people the event was also streamed on YouTube.

Going into the future, the company also declared its VISION-2025, wherein it has extensive plans to add new products manufacturing in the coming 5 years.

Apart from manufacturing, the company has aggressive plans to offer its services in the domain of Utility Management & Loss reductions.

With this, ALPHA TND has prepared itself to be the largest power sector player in West Africa by year 2025.
