Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac is convinced Thomas Partey will emerge as the best player of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] despite his shaky start of the tournament.
The Arsenal midfielder perhaps had a worse game against Morocco in Ghana’s opening game on Monday.
Partey was criticized for his unimpressive performance against the Atlas Lions in Black Stars 1-0 defeat in their Group C opener.
The 63-year-old trainer speaking ahead of Ghana’s second group game against Gabon on Friday, Rajevac said Partey did not play up to the level many expected but he remains confident he will come good in the remaining games.
He added that he is adamant the former Athletico Madrid midfielder will emerge as the best player of the tournament despite his early struggle.
“Thomas Partey, maybe in this match [against Morocco] he didn’t play at his level but in the next matches, he’ll prove that he is a top player,” he said.
“He [Partey] will be the best player of this tournament,” he added.
The game against Gabon will kick off at 19:00 GMT.
