You’re the President not the High Priest’ — CPP’s Osei Kofi jabs Akufo-Addo over National Cathedral project

The National Youth Organiser of the Convention Peoples’ Party, Osei Kofi Acquah is asking President Akufo-Addo to stop acting like the High Priest of same.

Reacting to calls made by the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori Atta for public donation towards the construction of the National Cathedral, Mr. Osei Kofi Acquah wondered why the President would burden himself so much with the Cathedral when his real responsibilities lie unattended to.

He said it is not only ironic but unacceptable for the President who has sworn an oath of office to do justice to all manner of persons, to take such a religious position as if Ghana is only a Christian nation.

“I think the president must be reminded once again that he is the President of the Republic of Ghana and not a Christian High priest. The President must be reminded that Ghana is a multi-religious country and that even his vice president is a Muslim,” he stated.

Mr. Osei Kofi Acquah who doubles as General Secretary for Coalition of National Youth Organisers said it is painful that in spite of the hardship caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the President still burnt on raising funds to build a National Cathedral.

“He is not raising funds to build or revamp the factories that were built or started by the Nkrumah’s government, it is sad that the president is not raising funds to defray our debt stock which is skyrocketing, it is sad that the president is not asking Ghanaians to donate to sustain the ailing and near collapse Free SHS but to rather build a cathedral.”

He continued, “it is sad that the president is not asking Ghanaians and sympathizers to donate to fill the Heritage fund which are funds that should be bequeathed to the young generation and our future leaders but to build a Cathedral.”

The Minister of Finance while reading the Mid-Year Budget last week called on Ghanaians to contribute GH100 per month towards the building of the National Cathedral.

The call left social media buzzing with many Ghanaians suggesting that the president out of his own will promised to build it for God and for that matter should fund it with his own money.

Stop acting as a high priest of a Christian country and become the president Ghanaians wants you to be, CPP National Youth Organizer blast Akuffo Addo

The finance minister of Ghana has presented the mid-year budget review as directed by the constitution.

In his delivery, he mentions that he did not come to parliament to impose new taxes or ask the August House to approve new proposed loans as if he not doing that is an achievement.

I want to kindly remind Mr Ken Ofori Atta that, he is our finance minister and not our tax minister.

As our finance minister, Mr Ken Ofori Atta is supposed to find ways and means to generate revenue without burdening the taxpayer, as well as manage and if possible invest with the existing national funds which we have been paying to government, to earn us more revenue.

So for him to mention that he did not come to parliament to request extra money or impose any new taxes, as if the job of the finance minister is to always tax his people or request for more money, raise a question if he Mr Ken Ofori Atta actually knows his job.

So Mr Ofori Atta should know that he is our *finance minister* not our *tax minister.*

Mr Ofori Atta admits raising our debt stock from 291.6 billion as of December 2020 to 334.56 billion cedis as of July 2021.

The youth of this country will like to know how that money has been spent, especially when it comes to how the money has been invested into opening new employment avenues, particularly factories.

Mr Ken Ofori Atta conveyed the president’s commitment to building a National Cathedral at all cost and said the president wants Ghanaians to contribute to the building of the Cathedral.

I think the president must be reminded once again that he is the President of the Republic of Ghana and not a Christian High priest.

It is not only ironic but unacceptable for the president of Ghana who has sworn an oath of office to do justice to all manner of persons, to take an entrench Christian position as if Ghana is a single religious country.

The president must be reminded that Ghana is a multi-religious country and that even his vice president is a Muslim.

Or is Dr Bawumia also going to build a mosque when the president finish building the cathedral?

It is painful that after admitting that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought hardship to the people of Ghana by collapsing jobs.

But all these hardships as mentioned in the budget by the minister of finance does not bother the president to the extent that the is not raising funds to:

Build or revamp the factories that were built or started by the Nkrumah’s government

It is sad that the president is not raising funds to defray our debt stock which is skyrocketing, but rather bent on building a cathedral at all cost.

It is sad that the president is not asking Ghanaians to donate to sustain the ailing and near collapse Free SHS but rather build a cathedral.

It is sad that the president is not asking Ghanaians and sympathizers to donate to fill the *Heritage fund* which are funds that should be bequeathed to the young generation and our future leaders but to build a Cathedral.

When did the Presbyterians, the methodist, the Pentecostal, the Catholics and other Christian churches and their leaders told the president that, they do not have a place of worship, so he should build them one?

The president out of incompetence has lost focus as the president of Ghana and is behaving like a high priest of a religious body and we the youth of this country are not happy.

Mr president graduates are still struggling to get decent employment, those that are with the Nabco are still under paid.

Our taps are not flowing, our source of electrical power is still unreliable, our roads are deplorable among others and this is what needs your attention as the president of Ghana.

This country is broken and needs fixing and building a cathedral at all cost is surely not the way.

Mr president you are legalizing gambling through the Gaming Tax and you are still bent on building a cathedral at all cost?

Our laws are not clear on punishment for LGBTQI offenders and you are fixed on building a cathedral at all cost?

Get your priorities right Mr president for the tax payer, contributes to Nation building, not because they have money in excess but because they are patriots
