Accra: Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked significant online reactions after asserting that men who forgive cheating partners are weak. The 44-year-old actor made these remarks during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he delved into topics such as relationships, emotional attachment, loyalty, and infidelity.
According to Ghana Web, Edochie emphasized that women who cheat in relationships are typically no longer emotionally invested in their partners. “If you meet a woman who loves you, she will be willing to do anything for you. But the problem is that a lot of men are with women who don’t love them and are wasting their time,” he said. He further elaborated that these women are often emotionally involved with someone else, indicating a lack of commitment to their current partners.
Edochie argued that a woman’s infidelity is a clear sign of her emotional and psychological detachment from the relationship. “Once a woman begins to cheat, she has checked out emotionally and psychologically,” he stated. He referenced a recent viral controversy involving an alleged affair between a married woman and a younger man, implying that the woman’s emotional loyalty had shifted from her husband to her lover.
The actor maintained that men should not tolerate infidelity, insisting that forgiving a cheating partner is a demonstration of weakness. “There is nothing like forgiveness when it comes to cheating. If you do, you are a weak man,” he declared. Edochie advised men to avoid emotional dependency on women and to establish firm boundaries in their relationships.
