‘World Cup is Ruined’ – Kwesi Arthur Slams High Costs Ahead of Tournament

Accra: Ghanaian rapper, Kwesi Arthur, has expressed frustration over preparations ahead of the much-anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a post shared on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on June 9, 2026, Kwesi Arthur indicated that he is no longer excited about watching the tournament.

According to Ghana Web, the rapper stated that the host nations have significantly increased the cost of accommodation, travel, and other expenses associated with the competition. He further alleged that the high costs have made it difficult for players and supporters to fully enjoy the tournament atmosphere, suggesting that the excitement surrounding the competition has been affected.

"This World Cup is a dub. I'm not excited to watch the games. They ruined it by overcharging for everything. Players can't even be in the host country," he said. Meanwhile, the tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is scheduled to begin on June 11, 2026.

The Ghana national football team will compete in Group L alongside the England national football team, the Croatia national football team, and the Panama national football team as they battle for a place in the knockout stage.
