Accra: Women in Tech Ghana has honored the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited by presenting them with the Activity and Community Engagement Award, which the Chapter received at the 5th Women in Tech Global Summit Gala Dinner in Cape Town. This recognition was in appreciation of their ongoing support for the Chapter's initiatives.
According to Ghana News Agency, the award presentation took place during separate visits to the two organizations in Accra. The Women in Tech Ghana delegation was welcomed by Mr. Kwame Kpekpena, Acting Managing Director of ECG, and Mrs. Gloria Opoku-Anti, Executive Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
During the visit to ECG, Mrs. Luvina Sandra Atsu, Chapter Director of Women in Tech Ghana, applauded the company for its commitment to gender equity. She highlighted ECG's leadership through its Gender and Social Inclusion Division, headed by Mrs. Rosemond Asamoa-Frimpong, noting the company's active support for initiatives that empower women within the organization and the broader community.
Mrs. Atsu emphasized that ECG's efforts foster an inclusive workplace culture prioritizing equal representation, professional development, and leadership advancement for women. She pointed out that these initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to gender equality and empowerment, contributing significantly to both national and global development objectives.
Additionally, Mrs. Atsu acknowledged ECG's support, which enabled the Chapter to donate learning equipment to students at St. James Anglican Basic 1 Junior High School in Teiman.
At Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs. Atsu commended the company's ongoing dedication to programs that empower women across the technology sector. She noted Zoomlion's strong commitment to advancing gender inclusion, highlighting the importance of such efforts at a critical time.
