Ace music producer Appiah Dankwah has questioned government for pushing the proposed Electronic Transaction Levy (E Levy) at a time citizens are facing difficulties.
According to him, it will be a wrong decision for the government led by the New Patriotic Party to introduce the tax at a time when citizens are dealing with economic hardships.
“Of course, we will all use the digital platform in our daily transactions and it is fine to be charged for that. But I am thinking about the timing,” he stated during an interview on TV XYZ.
The electronic Transaction levy which was contained in the 2022 financial statement of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori – Atta has been faced with diverse reactions from citizens.
According to government, the tax will attract 1.75% tax on financial transactions done electronically including mobile money transactions.
