Wenchi: The Wenchi Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region has re-elected Henry Amewowo as its Presiding Member by popular acclamation. During a special Assembly meeting held in Wenchi, 37 Assembly Members voted ‘Yes’ to confirm the incumbent Presiding Member, while one member voted ‘No’. The election was conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Charles Atta Mensah addressed the Assembly Members before the election, emphasizing that the election of a Presiding Member is a constitutional requirement. He urged members to conduct themselves appropriately, highlighting the importance of the Presiding Member’s role in presiding over meetings and ensuring the effective running of the Assembly.
Mrs. Christiana Opoku announced the results of the election. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Amewowo expressed appreciation to the Assembly Members, chiefs, queen mothers, and the people of Wenchi for the confidence they had placed in him. He pledged to work with all sta
keholders to promote the development of the municipality.
