Accra: A former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Rachel Appoh, has called on delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to vote for loyal party members in the upcoming internal elections. She stressed that loyalty remains critical to the party's growth and success at all levels.
According to Ghana Web, Appoh emphasized the importance of party unity and loyalty as the NDC prepares for future electoral contests. Appoh, a former Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency, expressed confidence in the NDC's ability to reclaim the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections. She urged the constituency to unite and work collaboratively to regain the seat lost in the 2012 elections.
She further noted that the ultimate decision rests with the electorate in any election, highlighting the need for party leaders and aspirants to stay connected with the grassroots. Appoh shared these insights during an exclusive interview on Accra-based CTV's Oman Ghana Nkosuo Programme, hosted by Yaa Titi on January 20, 2026.
Meanwhile, the party has unveiled its proposed timetable for the 2026 constituency, regional, and national party elections. The proposed timetable sets the stage for a keenly contested internal electoral process as the NDC positions itself for the 2028 general elections.
Under the constituency elections timetable, nominations will open from Tuesday, September 15, to Thursday, September 17, 2026, followed by a week for the completion of nomination forms. Filing of nominations is scheduled from Wednesday, September 23, to Thursday, September 24, with vetting from Friday, September 25, to Sunday, September 27. Appeals will be heard between Tuesday, September 29, and Thursday, October 1, 2026, while constituency elections are slated for Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026.
For the regional elections, nominations will open on Tuesday, October 6, and close on Wednesday, October 7, with a week allocated for the completion of forms. Filing for regional elections is scheduled from Wednesday, October 14, to Thursday, October 15, followed by vetting on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17. Appeals will be handled from Sunday, October 18, to Monday, October 19. Regional youth and women elections will take place on Friday, November 13, 2026, while the main regional elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15.
At the national level, nominations will open from Tuesday, October 20, to Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with 14 days allotted for the completion of forms. Filing for national elections will occur from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9, followed by vetting on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13. Appeals are scheduled from Sunday, November 15, to Monday, November 16. The Youth and Women Conference will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2026, while the National Congress is slated for Saturday, December 19, 2026.
