He emphasized that biased reporting could have negative consequences for society, including the potential to fuel communal tensions, deepen divisions, and perpetuate stereotypes.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gunu made these remarks at the inauguration of Aluta FM 107.7MHZ in Nkonya Wurupong, located in the Biakoye District. He highlighted the critical role that media plays in shaping public opinion and influencing national discourse, urging it to remain committed to truthful and responsible journalism. "The media has a significant influence on public opinion and must adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical journalism," he added.
Mr. Gunu further encouraged journalists and media practitioners to continually upgrade their skills and knowledge to meet the evolving demands of the media industry. Jean-Marie Formadi, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Biakoye Constituency, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of information and education in driving development. Madam Formadi noted the importance of access to accurate and timely information for the growth and development of any community and praised the station for its commitment to promoting local content and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities.
