Accra: Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, the Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has marked his birthday by donating educational materials, food items, and financial support to schools, patients, and prison inmates in Ho. This initiative is part of his ongoing commitment to giving back to society and supporting vulnerable groups within the community.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Agbavitor visited several schools, including Ho Bankoe E.P. Primary and JHS School and Philip Akpo Memorial Junior High School, where he distributed school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, and other educational materials to the pupils. In addition to the donations, he joined the children in cutting a birthday cake, singing, and interacting with them, providing a memorable experience for the young students.
In an interview, Mr Agbavitor expressed his belief in sharing his birthday celebrations with others, emphasizing his commitment to support those in need. "I don't believe in celebrating my birthday alone. I believe in sharing with people. I made a commitment to myself that whenever God blesses me, I will also be a blessing to others," he stated.
Following his school visits, Mr Agbavitor proceeded to the Ho Central Prisons, where he donated essential items such as bags of rice, sugar, gari, drinks, bottled water, detergents, soaps, biscuits, and other food items to improve the welfare of the inmates. His charitable activities extended to the Children's Ward of the Ho Teaching Hospital, where he provided food items, towels, and backpacks to aid in the care of young patients. Additionally, he offered financial assistance to some patients by paying their outstanding medical bills, thus enabling them to access necessary treatment and, in some cases, return home after recovery.
Mr Agbavitor highlighted the importance of modest support in helping individuals undergo essential medical procedures and emphasized the need for society to address such needs.
