Volta region: The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescued two accident victims and stopped a domestic fire from spreading in two separate operations in the Volta Region on May 13, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, personnel from the Peki Fire Station were dispatched to Ayensu and Asikuma Zongo. The first incident occurred along the "Peki-Asikuma Road" involving a SINO tipper truck. Firefighters arrived at the scene and successfully pulled the two men trapped in the vehicle to safety. Although the cause of the crash remains unclear, GNFS commented that their quick response prevented further harm.
Later that day, the same crew responded to a fire at Asikuma Zongo, where a three-bedroom thatch-roofed house was engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to confine and extinguish the blaze before it could spread to nearby structures, averting what could have been a larger disaster. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
GNFS has urged the public to "remain vigilant and report emergencies promptly to enable rapid response and protect lives and property."
