Accra:Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. has become a hot topic on social media following his reaction to being substituted in their 4-3 UEFA Champions League victory over AS Roma on October 15, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, the match saw Real Madrid initially struggle, with AS Roma's Marten de Roon scoring early in the second half. Kylian Mbappe soon equalized for Real Madrid, but Donyell Malen's two goals left them trailing as the game neared its end. Real Madrid's head coach Jose Mourinho responded by making several substitutions, including taking Vinicius Jr. off the field.
As Vinicius Jr. left the pitch, he was seen walking past Mourinho, murmuring and complaining about being substituted. His comments reportedly included questioning why he was replaced. This reaction triggered mixed responses from football fans online. Some criticized Vinicius, suggesting his attitude was inappropriate and needed to change, while others supported Mourinho's decision, citing the player's underperformance since the start of the season.
Many fans backed Mourinho, advising him to discipline Vinicius if such behavior continued, warning that it could negatively impact the team's dynamics, as they believe it did during Xabi Alonso's time as coach.
