Asante akyem south: A video has emerged online showing a person in military apparel assaulting a man believed to be a financier of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante Akyem South Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
According to Ghana Web, the video captured a man believed to be the Deputy Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Ivan Bilson Yeboah, leading the soldier in the assault. The Deputy Regional Security Coordinator is seen hitting the man's leg with a handcuff while at least three soldiers pin him to the ground. During the incident, Ivan is heard hurling insults at the man and questioning, 'Who gave you the mandate?'
The soldiers, after pinning the man to the ground, managed to handcuff him, upon which the coordinator instructed them to put him in a vehicle. The supposed financier is seen being dragged on the ground and beaten by the soldiers as he resisted arrest. At one point, he is heard urging the onlookers to call the police, saying, 'Call the police for me,' in the Twi dialect.
The reasons behind the soldiers' attempt to arrest the supposed financier remain unclear. However, some onlookers mentioned that he was the one who moved a particular vehicle.
