Unity Between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale Could End Competitive Edge, Says Ball J

Accra: Rapper and music producer, Ball J, has expressed that the longstanding rivalry between popular Ghanaian artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale is essential for maintaining competitiveness in their music careers. He suggested that their careers would lose their competitive edge if they were to fully reconcile.

According to Ghana Web, Ball J shared his insights during an interview on Asempa FM on March 28, 2026, where he discussed the implications of the hug shared by the two artistes at a World Cup fundraising event. Ball J noted that Stonebwoy's decision to grant an interview following the incident was strategic. In the interview, Stonebwoy remarked, 'even his late mother will kill him if he ever smiles with Shatta Wale,' which Ball J interpreted as an attempt to reignite their rivalry despite the public display of unity.

Ball J further elaborated on his view, stating that if Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were to completely unite, it would diminish the vibrancy and competition within the Ghanaian music industry. He posited that Stonebwoy's statements could be a calculated move to ensure the continuation of their competitive dynamic. 'If the case is closed over there, they've hugged and they are now one, I don't think their careers will be competitive again,' he said.

The rapper argued that a genuine reconciliation between the two could potentially lead to a lack of excitement in the industry. However, he acknowledged that if Stonebwoy's comments were sincere, then the issue should be addressed on a personal level between the two artistes.

The feud between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale has been a significant topic in the music scene, particularly after reaching a peak in 2018. During that time, Stonebwoy accused Shatta Wale of implicating him in his mother's death-a claim that Shatta Wale has denied. Stonebwoy has maintained that this accusation is an unresolved grievance, complicating any potential reconciliation.

'So, looking at where things have gotten to at this point, if I start smiling or laughing with the person, even my mother's ghost will kill me,' Stonebwoy stated, reflecting on the enduring impact of the feud.
