UHAS Basic School Supports Ho Teaching Hospital with Generous Donation

Mr. Seth Korgah, the Headteacher of UHAS Basic School, explained that the donation reflects the school's values and is tied to the subject Character First Education, which promotes citizenship and humanitarian service. "We are here with our widow's mite as we have been doing every year. Our curriculum teaches children to be good neighbours and good citizens, and helping others is central to that," he stated. He highlighted that the school's annual charity programme had previously taken pupils to the Ho Municipal Hospital, to Mepe during the dam spillage disaster, and to Madamfo Ghana Orphanage in Ho in earlier years. Established in 2021, the school integrates Christian values into its teaching, emphasising kindness and sacrifice, particularly during the festive season. "We want to put smiles on the faces of other children. Some parents and children in the hospital may not be well reso urced, so we came to support them," Mr. Korgah noted. He added that the donation aims to shape future leaders who will learn to give back to society rather than depend on it. "The items were provided by parents, staff, and learners, and we are grateful for their goodwill," he expressed. Miss Irene O. Nwogu, a final-year pupil, commented that the gesture was intended to care for children in need and to share the spirit of Christmas, which is a time for sharing and caring for each other. Mrs. Mary Lucky Tautsi, the Nurse Manager who received the items on behalf of the Paediatric Unit, expressed appreciation to the school and hoped for a sustained relationship and support in other areas of their needs as well.
