UENR SRC Distributes 5,000 Exercise Books to Sunyani Basic Schools

Sunyani: The 2025/2026 Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has donated 5,000 exercise books to three basic schools in the Sunyani and Sunyani West Municipalities. The beneficiary schools include UENR and Mmredane Basic Schools in Sunyani, as well as the Presbyterian Basic School at Odomase in Sunyani West.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Abdulliah Zakaria Agyei, the President of the SRC, highlighted that the distribution was part of the Council's social responsibility program aimed at supporting needy and vulnerable individuals in society. He emphasized the SRC's commitment to identifying and assisting vulnerable pupils and students in continuing their education and achieving academic success.

Mr. Agyei encouraged the beneficiaries to focus on their studies, stating that quality education is a crucial legacy that parents and the government can leave for them.

In a separate interview, Mr. James Clarke Hayford, the Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations Officer and Assistant Registrar in charge of the Dean of Students Office at UENR, mentioned that the SRC plans to distribute 15,000 exercise books to 20 selected basic schools across the two municipalities. He urged parents and guardians to prioritize investing in their children's education to secure a better future for them.

Mr. Hayford, who is also part of the university's outreach and sensitization team, encouraged students to concentrate on their studies to excel in their examinations. He assured them that UENR is committed to providing quality tertiary education that can lead to promising job opportunities.
