Trauma and Specialist Hospital supports management of Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village

The Management of Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Winneba, has donated assorted commodities valued at GHc25.

000.00 to Methodist Rafiki Satellite village in Effutu Gyahaadze, a community in Effutu Municipality.

The items include boxes of biscuit, bags of sachet water, gallons of cooking oil, toilet rolls, boxes of medicine, disinfectants and soft drinks as well as an undisclosed amount.

Ms Josephine Okine, Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) of the hospital, who made the presentation at the premises of the home, disclosed that the hospital was 10 years old, and the gesture formed part of activities to support the management of the village in taking care of the less privileged children in their care.

The anniversary, on the theme: “Celebrating 10 years of years of setting the Pace; Health Care Excellence through innovation,” will be climaxed with a durbar at the hospital.

Mrs. Okine who led the anniversary planning committee to present the items, applauded the Methodist Church-Ghana for the initiative to support vulnerable children to become useful in the society.

Other activities carried as part of the celebration, is blood donation, free health screening and a clean-up exercise.

Madam Rejoice Dei Forson, Social Relations Officer who received the items on behalf of Rev Dr Nana Kobina Abekah, Director of the village, thanked the management of the hospital and the Anniversary Planning Committee for the gesture.

The village started with six children and currently has 68 children with employed resident mothers.

It also has a school from Crèche to Junior High School with trained teachers and a clinic managed by professional nurses who provide health care service to both the children and the care givers.

According to her, children from Winneba Township and others from nearby communities around the village numbering 234, school with the children under their care, bringing the total to around 300.

Some of the children are currently in the various universities.

She appealed to the donors to remember the village in their prayers for God’s protection and guidance to continue to proper grooming of the children without any hindrances to become self-sufficient and loyal citizens in the future.

“We cannot manage these children alone, we are calling on other individuals and non-governmental organization and corporate bodies to come to our aid”, she added.
