Traditional Leaders Encouraged to Back Government’s Development Plans

Adaklu: Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, President of the Adaklu Traditional Council, has urged traditional leaders to actively support government initiatives aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development and transformation of the nation. He highlighted key initiatives requiring robust backing, including the National Sanitation Day, the Guns Amnesty, the 24-hour economy, and the Reset Agenda. According to Ghana News Agency, Togbega Gbogbi, who also serves as the Paramount Chief of Adaklu, made this appeal during the commissioning of a new office complex for the Adaklu Traditional Council at Adaklu Abuadi. The office, originally initiated by prominent Adaklu citizens but left incomplete, was finished by Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways, at a cost of 900,000 Ghana Cedis from his MP Common Fund allocation. Additionally, Mr. Agbodza personally financed furnishings and office equipment worth 600,000 Ghana Cedis. Togbega Gbogbi lauded President John Dramani Mahama for his visionary leadersh ip and the Reset Agenda, which aims to transform the nation's economy and enhance citizens' quality of life. He expressed optimism about the 24-hour economy market, describing it as a transformative initiative that would elevate economic standards. Under the government's Reset Agenda, Adaklu has seen improvements in education and healthcare, with new classroom blocks, CHPS Compounds, health centers, and ICT facilities being developed. Furthermore, Togbega Gbogbi commended the government for recognizing the vital role of traditional authorities in development and extending necessary support. He expressed gratitude for the Big Push Road infrastructure program, which has brought significant road projects to Adaklu, improving access and boosting agriculture. Key roads mentioned include Adaklu Abuadi to Adaklu Waya, Adaklu Waya to Keyime, and others enhancing connectivity across the region. Mr. Agbodza was praised for completing and equipping the office complex, a development that Togbega Gbogbi noted has instil led pride in the community. Mr. Agbodza assured locals that the Volta region and Adaklu would continue to benefit from the Big Push program, addressing infrastructure deficits, including those at Gbekor Senior High School, and providing school buses to area high schools. The event was attended by notable figures such as Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Madam Rita Naa Odorley Sowah, Deputy Minister for LGCRA, Mr. Jerry Yaw Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive, and various chiefs and NDC executives from the region.
