Tema:Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) is enhancing its regional collaboration with Sonabhy, following a visit by Sonabhy's management to TOR's Managing Director, Edmond Kombat. Both institutions are exploring ways to deepen cooperation within the petroleum industry.
According to Ghana Web, the delegation also visited the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, to express gratitude to him, President John Mahama, and the Ghanaian government for their support in the movement, trading, and supply of petroleum products to Burkina Faso.
During the meeting, Edmond Kombat emphasized the critical role of the relationship between TOR and Sonabhy in facilitating petroleum trade through Ghana. This partnership has significantly increased Sonabhy's petroleum supply from Ghana, rising from 15% in 2024 to 40% since President John Dramani Mahama's return to office in 2024. Kombat highlighted that this showcases the value of sustained cooperation in expanding regional trade and positioning Ghana as a strategic petroleum supply hub in West Africa.
Sonabhy's Managing Director, Dr. Patrice Forogo, expressed appreciation for the collaboration and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening petroleum trade through Ghana. He also congratulated Edmond Kombat on his appointment and expressed optimism about future cooperation to generate additional revenue from agreed petroleum transactions and services.
The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration among petroleum industry players to improve product supply arrangements, strengthen commercial relationships, and support regional energy security. The visit concluded with a tour of TOR's facilities, providing insights into its operations, infrastructure, and ongoing development activities.
