Accra: A police officer identified as General Lance Corporal Nicholas Ohene Ampong Kissi has raised concerns over alleged misconduct within the Ghana Police Service, claiming that ammunition is being sold to hardened criminals to attack civilians and fellow police officers.
According to Ghana Web, in a video shared on social media by Crime Check TV, some hardened criminals have allegedly taken over the Mataheko and Odorkor police barracks. General Lance Corporal Nicholas Ohene Ampong Kissi said he raised the alarm over the alleged criminal activities in the areas and was subsequently attacked by some of the individuals he claims are involved.
In two separate videos recorded at a hospital, he explained that the attack was allegedly linked to information he had gathered and sought to bring to the attention of the police authorities. 'At Mataheko Police Barracks and Odorkor Police Barracks, the current station officer is selling ammunition to armed robbers to go and kill their own police officers and attack civilians. At Odorkor Police Barracks, hardened criminals have taken over the place and two of them came and assaulted me. One slapped me twice,' he detailed.
General Lance Corporal Nicholas Ohene Ampong Kissi further described an encounter where he was shown a 'Ghana Must Go' bag filled with cash, referring to intelligence he had gathered about operations in the area which he believes led to his assault. He has called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate these serious allegations and take the necessary action.
