Jinijini:Construction on the Jinijini-Sampa Road Project in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region is facing delays due to theft of construction materials. Rango Construction Limited, the company responsible for the project, has raised concerns over the ongoing issue.
According to Ghana Web, Felix Agyei, the Public Relations Officer for Rango Construction Limited, reported that the theft of gravel from certain sections of the road is hindering progress. This project is part of the Government's 'Big Push' infrastructure initiative.
Agyei highlighted the issue while attending a ceremony in Jinijini, where the Berekum West District Assembly distributed working tools and equipment to 57 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). In addition to equipment, 43 beneficiaries received GHS3,000 each, with others receiving fufu pounding machines, deep freezers, and assistance for education and health needs.
He urged local communities along the road to be vigilant and help reduce the theft of construction materials. Agyei also acknowledged the support from stakeholders, including the Member of Parliament, for their role in the demolition of structures impacted by the project.
The road project is slated for completion by the end of 2028. Meanwhile, Collins Asomah, the Berekum West District Chief Executive, explained that the items for PwDs were purchased using funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). He encouraged beneficiaries to use the resources effectively to enhance their socio-economic conditions.
