Techiman: The Techiman Metropolitan Sports Federation has inaugurated the 2026 inter-circuit sports festival, urging participating schools to maintain discipline and avoid any acts of lawlessness. The festival focuses on athletics and football, aiming to discover, nurture, and develop the sporting talents of school children from Basic and Junior High Schools.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Isaac Twene, the Techiman Metropolitan Sports Education Coordinator, mentioned during the opening session that successful participants would be chosen to represent the metropolis in the regional sports festival. Mr. Twene emphasized that any form of lawless behavior would not be tolerated, highlighting the importance of sports development as an integral part of academic and extracurricular programs. These programs are designed to enhance the mental and physical development of school children.
Additionally, Reverend Isaac Amankwah, the Techiman Metropolitan Director of Education, provided sports materials such as running vests, footballs, and jerseys to the participating circuits. He expressed appreciation for the festival, noting that it offers an excellent opportunity for school children to demonstrate their potential in sports. Rev. Amankwah encouraged schools to maintain the sports materials properly and praised the organizers for their efforts in revitalizing sporting activities in the area.
Approximately 14 circuits are participating in the festival, which features events such as relay baton races, 4x4 meters, 5000 meters, 100 meters, and 1500 meters for both boys and girls.
