Dome-Kwabenya NDC Members Demand Probe Into Alleged Election Irregularities

Accra:Aggrieved members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency are calling for an investigation into alleged irregularities they claim affected the constituency executives' election held on October 24, 2026. The group, led by constituency chairman aspirant Godson Nii Takie, has raised concerns regarding the conduct of the election, pointing out alleged flaws in the voting process and the materials used as ballot boxes.

According to Ghana Web, Takie expressed his grievances in a video shared on TikTok, alleging that the election was marked by irregularities that compromised its credibility. He highlighted the decision to set up only six polling stations for the election, which he believed was insufficient for the expected number of delegates, resulting in delays and causing some delegates to leave before casting their votes.

Takie noted that the constituency had 369 branches with an estimated 3,370 delegates expected to participate. He claimed that the inadequate number of polling stations not only caused delays but also allowed certain groups to manipulate the voting process. He criticized the use of unsealed plastic containers, originally intended for packaging sobolo and pastries, as ballot boxes, suggesting that they lacked proper security measures.

Furthermore, Takie alleged that some national party officials were collaborating with the incumbent Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Elikplim Akurugu, to sway the election results. He also expressed disappointment with the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, for not addressing their concerns despite a submitted petition. Takie urged the party leadership to investigate the allegations and ensure that the issues raised by the aggrieved members are resolved, emphasizing the need for justice.
