Takyi Arhin Blames Government for Black Stars’ Performance Issues

Accra:Takyi Arhin, the General Manager of Aduana FC, has called on the public to direct their dissatisfaction with the Black Stars' recent performances towards the government rather than the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

According to Ghana Web, Arhin emphasized that it is the government's responsibility to financially support national teams by providing the GFA with necessary funds for projects that enhance team performance. He criticized the government for not adequately funding the sports ministry, which in turn affects the operations of the national teams.

Arhin pointed to the example of Senegal, where the government has heavily invested in sports infrastructure, contributing to its success in African football. He contrasted this with Ghana, where even maintaining sports facilities is challenging. Arhin argued that the GFA should not be solely blamed for the Black Stars' issues, as the lack of government support in building and maintaining sports facilities significantly impacts performance.

Following the resignation of head coach Carlos Queiroz after consecutive defeats in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the GFA has faced criticism for its management of football affairs. The association has been accused of poor decision-making in appointing national team coaches, having gone through approximately seven managers during Kurt Okraku's seven-year leadership.
