Students Protest Bullying and Gun Violence After Classmate’s Death in the Bronx

Bronx:Students from Dream Yard Preparatory School in the Bronx, New York, took to the streets on November 2, 2026, to protest against bullying and gun violence. This demonstration followed the tragic death of their schoolmate, 15-year-old Ghanaian Javits Frimpong, who was fatally shot.

According to Ghana Web, the students walked out of class in large numbers to honor Javits, who was killed by three teenagers now wanted by New York authorities. The protest highlighted the issues of gun violence and bullying, which have become major concerns following Javits' death.

The students were seen wearing T-shirts with Javits' picture and carrying placards demanding an end to gun violence and bullying. Reports suggest that Javits had been bullied at school, and some students accused of bullying him were suspended a day before his death. A classmate expressed deep distress over the incident, stating, "I’ve cried so much that I can’t cry no more."
