Kumasi: Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has shared his thoughts on the recent power outages in the country. In an interview with GhanaWeb's Joseph Henry Mensah on April 26, 2026, Kwaku Manu noted that it is high time government focus on solving the core issues affecting electricity supply.
According to Ghana Web, the outspoken actor criticised the politicisation of 'dumsor' by some Ghanaians and politicians, calling it needless. He remarked, 'We are all aware that Ghana's sickness is one, but we end up turning it into politics. This problem with our power system didn't start today, and we all know that, yet the two major political parties keep using it for political gain.' Kwaku Manu urged the government to focus on creating additional sources of electricity rather than relying solely on the Akosombo Dam.
He further emphasised the need for Ghana to grow as a country by building more power sources, suggesting that having four Akosombo Dams wouldn't be a bad idea. He highlighted that some countries are even using waste to generate electricity and questioned what Ghana is doing about this issue. 'Ghana isn't even a big country, I could travel around it in just two days,' he added.
