St. Augustine’s Past Students Union Refutes Allegations Against College, Headmaster

St. augustine: The St. Augustine's Past Students Union (APSU) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging abuse, intimidation, extortion, medical negligence, and academic decline at St. Augustine's College. According to Ghana News Agency, in a statement issued by APSU on Thursday, the Union described the allegations as 'false, unfounded, and deliberately orchestrated to tarnish the reputation of the College and its Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Dr. Patrick Appiah.' The statement noted that the publications, including an unsigned 'testimony' and an anonymous letter purportedly from a concerned parent, were part of a 'systematic smear campaign' by individuals opposed to the school's disciplinary measures. 'Not a single report, petition, parent enquiry, or SRC communication has corroborated these extreme accusations,' APSU said, adding that the College remains committed to discipline, academic excellence, and welfare of students. The Union emphasized that under Rev. Fr. Dr. Appiah's leadership, the College has strengthened academic supervision, enforced humane and Ghana Education Service-compliant disciplinary standards, and enhanced collaboration with parents and stakeholders. APSU urged the public, especially parents and prospective students, to disregard the social media reports and rely on official communications from the College, APSU, the PTA, and the Ghana Education Service. 'St. Augustine's College remains a safe, disciplined, and nurturing environment, fully compliant with GES policies and guided by Catholic values,' the statement concluded.
