Accra: The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has dismissed claims that it is offloading its hotel assets, calling the reports false and misleading. In a statement sighted by GhanaWeb and issued on May 22, 2026, SSNIT clarified that the adverts in the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times were not a call for buyers but an invitation for consulting firms to advise on its hospitality business.
According to Ghana Web, the purpose of the adverts was to hire qualified consultants for Golden Beach Hotels Limited, which manages La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Elmina Beach Resort, and Busua Beach Resort. The engagement is described as a business improvement and strategic planning exercise aimed at enhancing operational performance and preserving value, not a divestment process.
The consultants' role will involve reviewing operations, recommending turnaround strategies, and formulating a five-year business plan to boost the hotels' viability, competitiveness, and profitability. SSNIT emphasized that Labadi Beach Hotel, one of its flagship investments, is performing well and remains a strategic asset. The Trust is actively supporting the hotel's expansion and growth drive to further improve its long-term value and contribution to the pension scheme.
Management assured contributors, pensioners, and the public that all decisions regarding its hospitality investments adhere to sound investment principles, performance reviews, and a focus on sustainability. "SSNIT remains fully committed to safeguarding and prudently managing contributors' funds," the statement affirmed. The Trust urged the public to disregard reports of hotel sales and reiterated its commitment to protecting pension funds.
