Accra: Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has expressed his confidence in Ghana's Black Princesses, urging them to make history at the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland. During a visit to the team's camp, Adams assured the players of the government's full support as they prepare for their opening Group C match against Ecuador on Sunday.
According to Ghana Web, Adams conveyed a message from President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting his keen interest in the team's preparations. "I bring you greetings from the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, who is very aware of the task ahead of you," Adams stated, emphasizing the nation's backing.
The Black Princesses are set to make their eighth consecutive appearance at the tournament, although they have yet to advance beyond the group stage. Adams expressed his belief that the team has a unique chance to surpass previous performances and vie for the championship title this year. "I believe it is your time now to market Ghana even better by reaching the final and bringing the cup home," he encouraged.
Adams urged the players to remain confident and not be daunted by their opponents, advising them to rely on the strategies developed by their technical team. "Don't be intimidated by any opponent. They don't play any better football than you. Have at the back of your mind what the technical team has taught you so you can go out there and exhibit that," he advised.
Ghana is scheduled to face Ecuador on Sunday, followed by matches against Korea Republic and France as part of their Group C fixtures.
