Madina: Francis Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina, has reacted to a viral video in which he was captured stating that the youth must create jobs for themselves rather than wait for government employment. Speaking in an interview on Metro TV, Sosu clarified that his comments were taken out of context and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship.
According to Ghana Web, Sosu explained that while the government will continue to create jobs, it cannot absorb every unemployed person. He stressed the reality that government initiatives alone cannot address all unemployment issues, urging young people to be proactive in creating their own opportunities. "Government will create jobs. But no amount of jobs created by the government will absorb every unemployed person. You must understand that. Let's be honest," he stated.
Sosu further highlighted that personal growth and mentorship should not be politicized, underscoring that unemployment transcends political affiliations. "It's not about politics. Hunger doesn't know politics. A lack of jobs doesn't know political parties. If you want to tie your personal growth and jobs to NDC or NPP, I'm telling you, you'll lose it," Sosu added.
To reinforce his message, Sosu noted that political careers are temporary and that his own focus is on community service. "No political person will be a politician forever. I will do my own, my time will come, I will leave. But I've said too many times that you are here because you want to help the people. After service, I will go," he expressed.
Emphasizing his commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs, Sosu shared that many young people who visit his office leave with the skills to become entrepreneurs. "Many young people have come to my office, and by the time they are leaving, they turn into entrepreneurs. One of the things we do a lot is business support," he remarked.
