Some pundits are only known for attention-grabbing and empty attacks on musicians — Abu Sadiq backs Sarkodie’s media troll

Abu Sadiq Abdulai, the Chief Executive Officer of 3 Music Networks, has jumped to the defence of Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, following his attack on the media.

The veteran musician took a swipe at radio presenters, show hosts and bloggers for always criticising them over the inability of Ghanaian musicians to win international awards like their counterparts in Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, monitored by Modernghana News, Abu Sadiq added that the media industry, as Sarkodie said, also needs improvement.

He stressed that the work of attention-seeking but empty pundits shouldn’t be tolerated in the entertainment space.

“You can’t be a 20-year pundit veteran with nothing to show for it”, he said.

“The media has created a new work line for empty pundits who will wake up and realize that they’ve done 10 years of that and the only value or the only thing they’re known for is often attention-grabbing but empty headlines or attacks on talents and people,” Sadiq lamented.

In a recent interview, Sarkodie slammed local journalists, claiming that they should be getting appointments at the BBC and other international media outlets before they can have the moral right to criticize them.

“It is easy for somebody to sit on the radio and say Shatta Wale hasn’t done this, and Sarkodie hasn’t done that. I’ve not said we the artists don’t have work to do. But If you’ve been on the radio in Ghana for close to 20 years and have not moved on to Choice or BBC, I don’t think you have the moral right to talk about artists in Ghana who have not gone International.

“It was Komla Dumor who made me get my first BBC Interview because he’s Ghanaian he gave me the opportunity. Abrantie made me play indigo because he’s Ghanaian and has access so he put me on. So the whole ecosystem is you people should move not only artistes,” he said acknowledging that Ghanaian artistes still have work to do.
