Snoop Dogg Welcomed in Style on First Visit to Swansea Football Game

Swansea city: Snoop Dogg, co-owner of Swansea City, was greeted with twirling towels and a guard of honour during his first visit to the Welsh football club on Tuesday.

According to Ghana News Agency, the US rapper, who is a minority owner of the English second-tier club alongside US television host Martha Stewart and Croatian footballer Luka Modric, made his first appearance at the Swansea.com Stadium for the clash with Preston. Snoop Dogg joined the Swansea ownership group last July and made his way to South Wales after attending the Winter Olympics, where he served as Team USA's honorary coach as well as a special correspondent for broadcaster NBC.

The celebrity visit generated significant excitement, with a record crowd of 21,000 expected at the Swansea.com Stadium, which opened in 2005. Snoop Dogg arrived at the stadium nearly three hours before kick-off and requested the crowd to be in their seats ahead of the action to twirl the complimentary towels, a common gesture for supporters in US sports.

The plea was posted on Swansea's official X account, accompanied by a short video of the 54-year-old demonstrating the towel-twirling technique. Fans heeded the call as Snoop took to the field through a guard of honour composed of 20 youngsters representing Wales at the 2026 Street Child World Cup in North America.

Dressed in the club's all-white colours with a Swansea crest on his jacket, dark glasses, and a beanie hat, Snoop made a pre-match lap of honour as fans twirled their towels with rock music playing in the background. Snoop Dogg saluted the fans, shook hands with some, and posed for photographs with others. Club mascot Cyril the Swan even received a hug.

He eventually made his way down the tunnel seven minutes later, just before a light show commenced prior to kick-off. Known for hits like "Gin and Juice" and "Drop It Like It's Hot," Snoop Dogg has enjoyed a successful three-decade music career, topping charts and receiving 16 Grammy nominations.
