Siena:Slim Buster has spoken out against the disrespect veteran musicians face on social media, urging artistes to defend their reputations against online attacks.
According to Ghana Web, the veteran Ghanaian musician and dancer recalled his own experience on Adom TV, where he was mocked for his financial status and role in the music industry when he first joined social media platforms. Initially finding the insults difficult to handle, Slim Buster began examining the profiles of his critics before deciding how to respond.
He explained that this approach helped him learn to counter negative comments, as remaining silent could lead others to believe false claims. Slim Buster noted that young music fans might not be aware of the achievements of veteran artists, relying instead on misleading information from others.
In addition to sharing his personal experience, Slim Buster expressed concerns about the increasing hostility among fan groups of different musicians. Describing the rivalry as 'demonic,' he pointed out that fans can become so loyal to their favorite artists that they dismiss good music from others.
He called on musicians, their supporters, and those in the entertainment industry to address this hostility and promote respect for veteran musicians. Slim Buster emphasized that those who have contributed to the growth of Ghana's music industry deserve recognition rather than mockery.
