According to ghana web:ccording to Ghana Web, the police stated that the robbers used machetes to attack victims, compelling them to reveal their Mobile Money (MoMo) Personal Identification Numbers (PINs). These PINs were then used to illicitly transfer funds from the victims' accounts to the suspects' MoMo accounts.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Amadu Moro, 35, Adama Yussif, 40, Nasiru Abdul Rahman, 52, who is deceased, Iddrissu Adama, 35, Korika Issaka, 20, and Zakaria Brigi, 21. Preliminary investigations have connected Adama Yussif, Amadu Moro, and the deceased Nasiru Abdul Rahman as key figures in the syndicate, linking them to robberies at Kpenateng Junction, Kulkpara-Dapoha, Kpenateng Community, and Piisi-Dapoha.
The criminal activities are reported to have occurred between March and August 2026, with the latest incident taking place on August 1, 2026. Police investigations reveal that approximately GHS22,070 in cash was stolen from victims, and an additional GHS3,274 was transferred through the victims' MoMo accounts.
Seven mobile phones have been recovered from the suspects and are currently undergoing examination as part of the ongoing investigation. During the police operation, Nasiru Abdul Rahman sustained injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Upper West Regional Hospital. His body is now at the hospital's mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The police are also searching for two additional suspects believed to be linked to the robbery syndicate. These individuals, identified as Haruna, 30, the alleged armourer of the gang, and Amadu Mahamudu, 24, son of the deceased suspect, are currently at large. The Upper West Regional Police Command is intensifying efforts to apprehend these suspects and bring them to justice.
