Twifo hemang: Mr Isaac Agyiri, Executive Director of the Showbuoy Foundation, has made a significant contribution to Twifo Hemang Senior High Technical School in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region. He donated 500 catfish fingerlings, along with fish feed and medication, to bolster the school's fish farming activities.
According to Ghana News Agency, the donation is part of a broader initiative aimed at encouraging educational institutions and students to engage in fish farming, thereby contributing to the nation's food security. Mr Agyiri emphasized that agriculture is central to the country's food system, and by equipping students with practical aquaculture skills, they can be inspired to become independent agripreneurs, capable of transforming local food systems.
The Foundation has collaborated with experts from Saviour Farms to provide comprehensive technical support and training for both students and teachers, ensuring effective management of the fish farm. Mrs Mary Arkoh, Chief Executive Officer of Saviour Farms, committed to conducting regular visits to the school to offer technical guidance and facilitate a successful harvest.
Mrs Arkoh encouraged students to utilize the knowledge gained effectively to enhance their future livelihoods. She also assured the school of access to a ready market for its fish products, alleviating the burden of seeking buyers.
Mrs Agnes Amoah, Headmistress of the school, expressed her gratitude to the Showbuoy Foundation for its unwavering support in agricultural education and vowed to maintain the project's sustainability. The students also conveyed their appreciation for the Foundation's assistance in advancing their fish farming initiatives.
