Accra:Award-winning filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso has shared that her upcoming film, "Agency for the Dead," was inspired by her wish to offer audiences a light-hearted cinematic experience, distinct from the usual serious themes.
According to Ghana Web, Shirley expressed during a press briefing that she intentionally crafted the film to be fun and entertaining, aiming to have viewers laughing throughout. She noted the public's desire for films that provide sheer enjoyment and comic relief.
The script for "Agency for the Dead" was initially written for fun, as Shirley wanted people to have a good laugh at the cinema. The film runs for nearly one hour and 45 minutes, and while there is potential for more content, it depends on the audience's reception and demand.
Shirley carefully chose a cast she believed could naturally deliver comedy, emphasizing that making people laugh is more challenging than it seems. The film is set to premiere on October 30, 2026, at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra, featuring renowned Ghanaian actresses Jocelyn Dumas and Yvonne Okoro, alongside George Quaye and David Dontoh.
