Florida: Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has won two prestigious awards at the 43rd International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) held in Florida over the weekend. He was honored with the Best African Dancehall Entertainer award and the Concert of the Year award for ShattaFest.
According to Ghana News Agency, Shatta Wale’s management expressed their gratitude towards the organizers and supporters of the awards in a statement. They acknowledged the recognition and continuous support for African music on the international stage provided by the IRAWMA awards. The management also extended heartfelt thanks to the fans worldwide, particularly the Shatta Movement fraternity, for their unwavering support, votes, and dedication over the years.
The statement emphasized that these recent achievements further solidify Shatta Wale’s status as one of Africa’s leading musical exports and a significant figure in the global dancehall culture. With these latest acco
lades, Shatta Wale’s total number of IRAWMA awards has reached 11, underscoring his sustained influence in the international reggae and dancehall scene.
In the previous year’s edition of the IRAWMA, Shatta Wale secured three awards, including Best African Dancehall Entertainer, Best Music Video for ‘Killa Ji Mi’, and Best Crossover Song for ‘Commando’ featuring Bounty Killer.
