SEDIV Drilling Ventures hands over borehole to police

Ho (V/R), SEDIV Drilling Ventures, a company specialised in drilling mechanised boreholes in deprived communities, has handed over a mechanised water system to the Volta Regional Police Command.

At a short ceremony to formally commission the borehole project, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Oduro Kwateng, the Regional Police Commander, said potable water supply was one of the many challenges at the headquarters when he assumed command in February 2019.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant challenges worsened the already existing sanitation issue at the headquarters since water became a scarce commodity to contend with, he said.

DCOP Kwateng said inmates, the clinic, personnel on duty, as well as exigencies of the work placed a high demand on water, which was always in short supply.

“The Ghana Water Company could not immediately assist due to glaring topographical difficulties which came with high financial commitments. Mention could not be made of years of support from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Water Company,” he said.

The Regional Police Commander said, “Civilian employees working under the command have had to bear the daunting burden of crossing the road to fetch water for use by the command which was equally not reliable and sustainable.”

In a speech read for him, Mr Agbeto Ephraim, Chief Executive Officer of SEDIV Ventures, indicated that the project formed part of the company’s social responsibility towards security in the region.

He appealed to Mr Divine Richard Bosson, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, to help provide mechanized water systems for Area 51 Police station, Kporvi barrier and other Police posts in the Ho Municipality.

The MCE for Ho on his part charged the Police officers to ensure periodic maintenance of the project to ensure a continuous flow of water at the regional headquarters.
