Accra: Deputy Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Samson Ahi, confronted Habib Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tolon, after remarks were made about him during parliamentary proceedings.
According to Ghana Web, a video circulating on social media shows Habib Iddrisu teasing the deputy minister while contributing to a debate, questioning why the Majority Leader had chosen a first-time MP to represent the caucus instead of more seasoned lawmakers. Iddrisu's comments highlighted that the Majority Leader opted for the deputy Health minister, a first-time MP, to represent the caucus, despite the presence of Samson Ahi, a sixth-term MP and former senior minister, raising questions about Ahi's exclusion.
Samson Ahi responded to Iddrisu's remarks with a stern warning, expressing that he felt disrespected by the Tolon MP's behavior. Ahi emphasized his role in representing the government and insisted on being treated with respect. He pointed out that this was not the first time Iddrisu had made such comments, and he urged the MP to stop what he perceived as disrespectful behavior. Ahi made it clear that Parliament is a place for serious business, and he objected to being treated with levity.
