Accra: Popular Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has taken a swipe at authorities over Ghana’s perennial flooding problem. In the wake of recent devastating floods triggered by a heavy downpour, Nana Aba criticized the government’s repeated failures to adequately address the issue, which continues to affect communities year after year.
According to Ghana Web, Nana Aba took to social media platform X on June 29, 2026, expressing her frustration at the apparent lack of effective action by officials. Her remarks were specifically directed at the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley, questioning the minister’s response to the latest flooding crisis. “How do you feel this morning @HonLindaAkweley?” she wrote, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the situation.
Nana Aba further highlighted the recurring nature of the problem, pointing out that an anti-flood task force was inaugurated the previous year, yet the cycle of disaster and inaction persists. She lamented the fact that despite the establishment of such task forces, tangible results are yet to be seen. “Same script every year. The rains end, everyone resets to factory settings and we reconvene next rainy season for another round of outrage,” Nana Aba added, emphasizing the cycle of unfulfilled promises and temporary outrage.
The ongoing challenges of poor drainage infrastructure, unchecked development in waterways, and inadequate urban planning have left many communities susceptible to flooding during the rainy season. Despite repeated government interventions, these issues remain unaddressed, sparking public criticism and calls for more effective solutions.
