Akatsi south: Rural Youth Network, a Non-Profit Organisation, has donated about 160 pairs of footwear and sandals, along with hundreds of school bags, to pupils at Have-Fiakpokorpe Basic School within the Akatsi South Municipality. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance learning, improve school attendance, and promote the well-being of schoolchildren in the farming community.
According to Ghana News Agency, the exercise was led by Madam Edna Attah, the Founder of the US-based NGO, and supported by Mr. Japhet Festus Gbede, the Assembly member for the area, who played a pivotal role in securing the donation. Mr. Gbede emphasized that this contribution would significantly impact education within the community.
Mr. Gbede, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude towards the organisation for its dedication to grassroots education. He highlighted that the intervention would alleviate the financial burden on parents and guardians while boosting the pupils' confidence and comfort in attending school.
He further noted that initiatives like this reflect the shared responsibility of stakeholders, including civil society organisations and community leaders, to invest in the future of children, especially in underserved rural areas. Mr. Gbede also thanked Mr. Dickson Assan, a Chartered Accountant and career coach, for his crucial role in facilitating the engagement leading to the donation.
Mr. Gbede conveyed his appreciation to Madam Edna Attah and the Rural Youth Network team on behalf of the communities of Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu Electoral Area. The donation was well-received by community members, teachers, and pupils, who lauded the team for their generosity and called for continued support to further educational improvements in rural areas.
