According to ghana news agency:ear initiative is set to benefit 1,637 people across 16 communities in the Upper West and Savannah Regions, along with the Awutu Senya East, Akuapem North, and North Tongu districts. Beneficiary communities include Bilan, Yipaala, Kpotori, Angbaali, Taangakolee, Wekobor Section Four, and Viekpateng.
Rotarian Jonathan Kwofie, the outgoing President of the Rotary Club of Wa, announced the project during a handing-over ceremony involving the Rotary Clubs of Wa and Bolgatanga Goodwill. The grant emphasizes Rotary's dedication to addressing critical humanitarian challenges through impactful partnerships.
During his tenure, Rotarian Kwofie noted that the club achieved 17 out of its 21 strategic goals by collaborating with local and international partners. These achievements include the Supplementary Education Intervention Project, executed in eight senior high schools in conjunction with Kello, a local organization, and the Johnson City Rotary Club in the United States. Additionally, the club executed a WASH project with the Rotary Club of Windsor and the Rotary Foundation to equip health centers in Kaleo, Nanvile, Funsi, and Eremon with WASH facilities.
Further initiatives by the club involved providing five tricycle ambulances to health facilities in Wa West and Wa East districts in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Cambridge in the UK and Rotaract Club of Legon East. The club also contributed medical equipment to the Domwine Health Centre and constructed an ultramodern kitchen at the Wa School for the Blind.
Dr. Eunice Yorgri, the newly inaugurated President of the Rotary Club of Wa, pledged her commitment to building on the accomplishments of her predecessors by expanding community service projects and enhancing the club's public image. She emphasized leading with integrity, humility, and transparency and called for members' support to advance Rotary's mission of 'Service Above Self.'
Dr. Yorgri underscored the importance of collective effort in the club's achievements and future aspirations, focusing on unity and dedication. Rotarian Alexis Ayamdor, the newly appointed President of the Bolgatanga Goodwill Rotary Club, also expressed his commitment to building on the previous administration's successes.
Rotarian Kelly Adilip, the Assistant Governor, encouraged the clubs to maximize their collective impact through joint projects and fellowship. He also urged them to enhance publicity on Rotary's humanitarian work to attract more members and strengthen their community services.
