The Rotary Club of Accra-Roman Ridge, in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has organized a clean-up exercise at the Accra Newtown Cluster of Schools (Experimental JHS 1&2) and also donated some items to the school.
Presenting the items to the school after the clean-up exercise, the President of the Rotary Club of Accra Roman Ridge, Ms. Suzzy Thomas indicated that the support was in line with the club’s aim of supporting communities to change lives.
Ms. Thomas also called on the school authorities to manage the items donated to them and ensure measures are put in place to dampen the refuse properly.
The Club President further expressed her deepest appreciation to Almighty God and Zoomlion Ghana Limited for a wonderful collaboration. She appealed to other private companies to emulate Zoomlion to give back to society.
The Public Relations Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr. Loko Raf on his part stated that the donation forms part of Zoomlion’s corporate social responsibility, and therefore whenever there was the need for a donation, clean-up exercise, or anything related to waste management, Zoomlion would be available to assist.
Mr. Raf noted that Zoomlion teamed up with the Rotary Club to ensure that the environment was clean, adding “anytime you see these bins, it should tell you that all your waste must go into them”
The Headmaster of Accra Newtown Cluster of Schools, Mr. Emmanuel Nyavor, receiving the items on behalf of the Schools, expressed gratitude to Zoomlion and the Rotary Club of Accra Roman Ridge for coming to their aid at this crucial moment.
Mr. Nyavor explained that “we always try on our own to clean up the school and its environs, but we always have challenges with logistics and PPE’s. Now that Zoomlion and Rotary are supporting us with the needed logistics, I want to assure you that we would make sure our environment is a clean and better place for teaching and learning”.
He added that going forward, they will always clean their frontage and premises, plant trees so that the school would look more conducive for teaching and learning.
In an interview with the media, Mr. Angele-Emmanuelle Tigori, Youth Service Director of the Rotary Club of Accra- Roman Ridge commended Zoomlion for their support and prompt response to the appeal by the club.
She stated that the exercise was to sensitize the pupils about the need to keep their environment clean.
Senior Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer of Zoomlion, Mr. Daniel Ohene Obeng, and Public Relations Manager, Mr. Loko Raf, seized the opportunity to educate the pupils on the need to keep their environment clean.
Some of the donated were five 240 liters’ dust bins, Veronica buckets, bottle Water, sachet Water, boxes of Kalypo, boxes of hand sanitizers, liquid soaps, sanitary pads, and power zone among others.
